Five Nights at Freddy’s (‘FNAF’) doesn’t reveal many human characters, and is one of the first fully modeled humans to be shown unobstructed. Not much is known about her, so who is she really, how tall is Vanessa?
Vanessa is above average height for a human female, more than 170 cm high, and is a security guard first seen in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach. She takes her duties seriously and when she finds out about Gregory, she realizes she has to help him.
Let’s look at what we know about Vanessa including her basic biographical details as well as what is revealed within the game itself. We’ll also consider the role she plays in regard to the mysterious Gregory.
Who Is Vanessa From FNAF?
Vanessa is a security guard who first appears in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise in the game Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.
She is one of the primary antagonists and also has an appearance in Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery, where she goes by the name Ness in the emails.
A young woman, she has medium-length blonde hair, light skin, freckles, green eyes and shiny lips with purple nail polish.
Often seen donning her security uniform that makes her look like a cop, she has a very feminine personality and is easily one of the most fashionable entrants in the series.
Before getting into security, she was the Senior IT Representative at Fazbear Entertainment. Her qualifications don’t suit her for a security job but she is trying her best. There are recordings that reveal she only got the job due to recommendations from superiors.
She has some kind of link with Vanny, seemingly being replaced by Vanny and taking on a much more evil persona. This seems to occur when in the presence of Glitchtrap.
She is also very protective of Gregory, even going so far as to threaten to destroy Glamrock Freddy if he intervenes in any way. This shows part of her fiery personality that seems to get triggered and her calm demeanor is nowhere to be found.
Ingame we find out that Vanessa struggled with self confidence, going to therapy to deal with past instances of trauma. She comes across as very despondent in the tapes and recording and takes on a very self-critical attitude.
Unfortunately, this goes together with low self-esteem which makes her easily manipulated, possibly being the genesis of the Vanny character.
During the beginning of the game, she is seen to have cut Freddy off from the main office, protecting the player.
However, as the player continues to play farther along into the game, Vanessa is no longer present at all in the game.
The game seems to suggest she was either taken over by Afton and replaced by Vanny during gameplay in some way, turning from Gregory’s ally into his enemy.
Vanessa will be shown at the end of the game doing one of a few actions depending on the way the game was completed, either eating ice cream with Freddy and Gregory, or looking down on Vanny’s dead body at the top of the burning Pizzaplex.
However the Bad Ending, the Good Ending, or the Burntrap Ending will not show Vanessa at all, with the main theory being that she fled the Pizzaplex or was killed.
According to Special Delivery’s scrapped emails and the Security Breach’s Retro CDs, the main picture seems to be that Vanessa and Vanny are indeed the same person although some of the other promotional material is contradictory on this point.
Vanessa has wanted a bunny-shaped cake for her birthday and she also purchased fake fur material to create the Vanny costume, all of which point to her being the same person.

There isn’t any reliable information about how tall she is, but she does stand next or near to characters like Gregory and the animatronics like Freddy reveal her to be slightly taller than the average female, which puts her somewhere over 170cm.

Vanessa is a spry 23-years old who was born in September. She doesn’t look too old despite her many trials and tribulations.
Why Did Vanessa Want Gregory?
Gregory is a young boy trying to escape from the animatronics while also trying to get to the bottom of all the children who have disappeared.
Vanessa is trying to help him due to her job and his perceived vulnerability as a child.
When Vanessa finally finds Gregory, she takes him to the Lost and Found, before her face glitches into Vanny.
Vanessa has no idea who Gregory was, particularly that he likely broke into the Pizzaplex and is either an orphan or a runaway. Vanessa learned his name through Glamrock Freddy’s communications through Gregory’s Faz-Watch.
