When building your team in Genshin Impact, it can be hard to get four characters together who work well together and are also achievable. So who is better, Xinyan vs Xiangling?
While Xinyan is much better for physical support, Xiangling is much better if you need Pyro support while also benefiting from using a pike as a weapon.
Let’s look at both of these characters, consider their strengths and weaknesses, as well as what role they’re best suited to.
Xinyan’s Strengths and Abilities
A Pyro specialist, she specializes in fire and music.
Her Normal attack is Dance on Fire that performs up to four consecutive strikes, while the charged version drains stamina over time, using it to perform continuous spinning attacks against all nearby opponents, finishing with a powerful slash.
The plunging attack version deals Area of Effect (AoE) damage upon impact.
Her Elemental Skill is Sweeping Fervor, dealing Pyro damage on nearby opponents and gaining a shield based on a combination of her defense and on the number of opponents hit.
Hitting up to one opponent grants Shield Level 1; two or more for Shield Level 2; 3 or more for Shield Level 3, which will also deal intermittent Pyro damage to nearby opponents.
The shield also gives 250% damage absorption effectiveness against Pyro type.
Xinyan’s elemental burst is Riff Revolution, launching nearby opponents into the air and dealing physical damage as well as causing small explosions that deal Pyro damage to nearby opponents.
Her 1st Ascension Passive is “The Show Goes On, Even Without An Audience…” which reduces the requirements for each level of shielding regarding Sweeping Fervor.
Her 4th Ascension Passive “…Now That’s Rock ‘N’ Roll!” gives a 15% increased physical damage buff to any character covered by the shield.
Finally, her Utility Passive is A Rad Recipe, which kicks in when you get Perfect Cooking for a defense-boosting dish, giving you a 12% chance to obtain double the product.
In regards to her constellations, Fatal Acceleration results in increased attack speed of Xinyan’s Normal and Charged Attacks by 12% for 5 seconds after a critical hit.
For level two, her Constellation Impromptu Opening means Riff Revolution’s physical damage has its critical hit rate increased by 100%, and will form a shield at Level 3 Shield upon casting.
Constellation Double-Stop increases the level of Sweeping Fervor by three to a maximum level of 15.
The Constellation Wildfire Rhythm further increases Sweeping Fervor’s swing damage by decreasing the opponent’s Physical resistance by 15% for 12 seconds.
Second last at level five, Xinyan‘s Constellation Screamin’ for an Encore increases the level of Riff Revolution by three up to 15, and finally Rockin’ in a Flaming World decreases charged attack’s stamina by 30%, also giving an attack bonus equal to 50% of defense.
Xiangling’s Strengths and Abilities
Xiangling is another Pyro character, specializing in cooking.
Dough-Fu as a normal attack performs up to five consecutive spear strikes, whereas the charged attack uses stamina to do a forward attack.
The plunging attack goes from the air to strike the ground below, dealing AoE damage upon impact.
Her Elemental skill is the Guoba Attack which summons Guoba who launches ranged AoE Pyro attacks.
Similarly, the Pyronado is Xianglins’ Elemental burst attack that sticks near your character for the ability’s duration, dealing Pyro damage.
Her 1st Ascension Passive Crossfire synergizes with Guoba by increasing the flame range of 20%.
For her 4th Ascension Passive, Beware, It’s Super Hot!, after Guoba attack effects end, Guoba drops a chili pepper that you can grab to increase your attack by 10% for 10 seconds.
Chef de Cuisine is Xiangling’s Utility Passive and means that when a Perfect Cooking is achieved on an attack boosting dish, Xiangling has a 12% chance to receive 100% more.
Her Constellations put an Implode status onto the opponent last hit for two seconds. After this, an explosion deals 75% of Xiangling’s attack as AoE Pyro damage. Deepfry boosts Pyronado by three up to 15, and Slowbake increases Pyronado’s duration by 40%.
Guoba Mad iIncreases the Level of Guoba Attack by three up to 15, while Condensed Pyronado gives all party members a 15% Pyro damage bonus.
Xinyan vs. Xiangling: Who Is Better?
Xiangling’s biggest problem is her ultimate attack costs 80 energy, meaning you’ve got a long wait until you can unleash it again.
While Guoba has a really short cooldown, the chance of dropping the chili pepper is so low as to be unreliable.
Xinyan is much better to fill the role of physical support and a bit of damage per second (DPS), Xiangling is much better if you need Pyro support and DPS. Xiangling also uses a pike as a weapon which gives great DPS.
